My dad...Lyssandros... a fisherman... one of the l

My dad...Lyssandros... a fisherman... one of the loves of my life. He is over his 70 years and still jumps on his boat when weather permits and goes out hoping for a catch..Fishing at night is not easy...one boat ( plus a helper these days) no cover no light and a small engine that can't really do much if the wind decides to turn. He talks about the sea as if she is a woman... and always says to me: You may think you know her....but you never will...and must always respect her. I love him for his love and the lessons he has taught me...taught to him by the lady sea. The stories he shares are the biggest gift!

I am in Crete, in a village called Archanes. I walk into a grocery shop & ask the old lady if she has fresh beans...she only has fresh borlotti...I am thinking of the extra time I need to pod them...I just wanted a quick lunch....she looks at me and says "don't worry my child...I will prepare them for you..I do this for other mamas too...is half a kilo enough?" And on her counter, next to her till we prepared them together chatting about Ermis who was carefully inspecting her shop. My eyes watered and my heart felt tender.
